Back then, quite a number of our clients preferred Rwanda gorilla trekking experience to Uganda gorilla trekking experiences probably because of the short 2-hour drive from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park compared to the eight-hour-long drive from Entebbe to Bwindi. With the possibility of booking one day and two-day gorilla safaris, it somehow became a bit cheaper for a client to trek gorillas in Rwanda. The blow came in 2017 when Rwanda Development Board announced a 100% ($750 to $1500) increment on permits. Ever since this happened, so many clients now prefer to arrive in Kigali and trek gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park Uganda because not all are willing to pay the huge amount for Rwanda permits. Bwindi permits cost only $600 each all year round. Besides, it is just a four hours drive from Kigali to Southern Bwindi.
