Chimpanzees are a core attraction in Nyungwe forest estimated to shelter over 500 individuals. Chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe forest is done in two areas, which are Cyamudongo forest and the main forest. Different chimpanzee communities have been habituated for trekking. Chimpanzee treks in Nyungwe start off from any of the three reception centers at Gisakura, Kitabi and Uwinka depending on where travelers spent a night. The loud screams, hoots, and cracks of tree branches alert travelers where chimpanzees are located. Your 5 Days Rwanda Primates Tour starts from the airport on arrival or in Kigali city at your residential place. Our driver-guide will pick you up and transfer you to Nyungwe Forest National park in the south of Rwanda. Along the way, you will have planned stopovers at selected cultural sites and lunch will be enjoyed en-route. You will arrive in Nyungwe Forest after a 4:30 hours drive to check-in for your lodging and accommodation as per the 5 Days Rwanda gorilla chimpanzee safari.
Enjoy Dinner and Overnight at Nyungwe Forest Lodge/Nyungwe Hill Top Lodge/Gisakura Guest House. Meal plan: Half-Board
After an early breakfast at the lodge, you will transfer to meet other primates trackers of the day at the park headquarters. Park officials and ranger guides will brief you on the useful tips about the primates tracking experience and how you should behave while in the forest. At 8:00 am, you will begin the search for the shy chimpanzee species and other primates.
Nyungwe Forest national park is home to over 13 primates species, and among those to look out for include; the chimpanzees, the handsome L’Hoest’s monkey, the endangered golden monkeys, strong troops of the delightfully acrobatic Angola Colobus, vervet monkeys, Silver Monkey, Hamlyn’s Monkey, Red-tailed Monkey, Dent’s Mona Monkey, Olive Baboon, Grey-cheeked Mangabeys and so on.
After the chimpanzee trek, return to the lodge for lunch, and then in the evening experience the canopy walk on which you will see more fauna and floras, avian species, butterflies. Meal plan: Full Board
Have breakfast early in the morning, then take a long hours journeys to Volcanoes National park driving through Kigali City for your lunch stopover. On your arrival in Musanze, you will check-in at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge/Lapalme Hotel/Muhabura Guest House for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: Full Board
Wake up to a tasty breakfast and after proceed to the park headquarters in Kinigi to attend to a gorilla trekking briefing about the gorillas in the mist. You will then hike into the jungles of Volcanoes National Park to search for these endangered primates. On meeting with the gorillas, you will have 1 hour to take amazing photos and videos of these enchanting primates of the wild.
After the trek, return to the park office for your gorilla trekking certificate and then drive back to your lodge and relax. In the evening visit the twin lakes (Burera and Ruhondo) and over here you will spot a variety of bird-life species. Dinner and overnight as the previous day. Meal plan: Full Board
Today will be the last day of the primates tour in Rwanda. You will after breakfast, go for the golden monkey primates tracking, birds, butterflies will be spotted. Have lunch after the golden monkey trek and then embark the safari vehicle transferring you back to Kigali to your hotel or airport for your return flight ending this 5 Days Rwanda gorillas and Chimpanzee safari.
