4 Days Double Gorilla Trekking Safari in Uganda allows you watch two of the many Gorilla groups in Bwindi impenetrable forest. You will have a full two good hours of interaction with these primates and maybe a community walk to see the Batwa people and see how they live their daily lives.
A 4 day Uganda gorilla safari with double gorilla trekking is one of the short safari vacations which offer you a chance to explore these magnificent creatures while in their natural habitat. It takes you to Bwindi National Park where you will spend nearly 8 to 10 hours’ driving from Kampala. This park covers an area of about 321 square kilometers and stands at altitude of about 2607 meters.
It was gazetted around 1991 and became world heritage site in 1994 and offers refuge to about 400 mountain gorillas and features so many gorilla families. To track gorillas, there are four sectors (Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga and Nkuringo) where you will set off for this lifetime adventure. The key groups include Mubare, Habinyanja, Rushegura in Buhoma; Oruzogo, Kyaguriro, Bitukura in Ruhija; Rushaga with mainly Nshongi, Bweza, Busingye, Kahungye and Mishaya and then Nkuringo in Nkuringo sector. Your double gorilla experience will be combined with cultural encounters at the Batwa or Bakiga community as well as boat cruise along Lake Bunyonyi and the Kigezi highlands in sight seeing. This double gorilla safari starts and ends in Kampala.

Day 1- 4 Days Double Gorilla Trekking Safari in Uganda: Transfer from Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
Breakfast in the morning and be picked up by a driver guide from your hotel in Kampala. After, set off to Bwindi National Park, southwest of Uganda along the Kampala-Mbarara route. En-route, catch a glimpse at magnificent sceneries with several plant species and wild animals. You will have a stopover at Igongo cultural center for African cuisine and cultural exploration. Thereafter, proceed to Bwindi where you will check in at Mahogany springs-luxury, Gorilla Mist Camp or Silverback Lodge-Mid range, Ruhija Gorilla Friend’s Camp-basic for your dinner and over night stay.
Day 2 – 4 Days Double Gorilla Trekking Safari in Uganda: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi National Park
Get up early in the morning and have breakfast then join the rest of the visitors for briefing on rules and regulations for gorilla trekking by park official. You will be assigned to one habituated gorilla family and after, hit the forest with your guide to search for gorillas. On getting your gorilla group, you will have an hour of face to face encounter with these fascinating creatures and 8 meters must be observed at all times. You will spend nearly 1 to 8 hours trekking for gorillas but this depends on your speed, location of gorilla family and nature of the habitat. After, you walk back to the lodge of your choice for dinner and overnight stay at Mahogany springs-luxury, Gorilla Mist Camp or Silverback Lodge (Mid range), Ruhija Gorilla Friend’s Camp (basic).
Day 3 – 4 Days Double Gorilla Trekking Safari in Uganda: Second gorilla tracking and return to Lake Bunyonyi for boat ride and chilling
Have breakfast and then set off for yet another amazing gorilla adventure which offers you a chance to trek different gorilla group. This is to help you explore more about mountain gorillas in depth and after, drive to Lake Bunyonyi for evening boat ride while catching a glimpse at the magnificent 29 islands which are surrounded by the spectacular Kigezi highlands. After, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Birdnest@ Lake Bunyonyi Resort (Luxury), Lake Bunyonyi Eco Resort (Mid range) or Broadbill Forest Camp (Budget).
Day 4 – 4 Days Double Gorilla Trekking Safari in Uganda: Drive back to Kampala
Following breakfast in the morning, you will embark on return journey to Kampala through Mbarara and stopover at Igongo cultural center for lunch. After, drive and stop at Equator for you to take more photos and purchase some crafts at the gift shop. You will then drive back to Kampala and this marks the end of your four day double gorilla safari in Uganda.

Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National ParkA representative from Gorilla Adventure Tours will meet you at Kigali International airport to transfer and shortly brief you about your 4 days double gorilla trekking safari before you embark on the approximately 9 hour drive to Bwindi forest. Along the way you will stop at the equator to take photographs and purchase some crafts, continue and have lunch in Mbarara. After lunch you will proceed with your journey as you will go through the beautiful scenery, rolling hills with terraces as you arrive in Kabale also called the Switzerland of Africa. Gorilla Trekking Adventure in Ruhija Sector & Batwa Community VisitsGet up early in the morning and have sumptuous breakfast then join the rest of the visitors for briefing on rules and regulations for gorilla trekking by park official. You will be assigned to one habituated gorilla family and after, hit the forest with your guide to search for gorillas. On getting your gorilla group, you will have an hour of face to face encounter with these fascinating creatures and 8 meters must be observed at all times. You will spend nearly 1 to 8 hours trekking for gorillas but this depends on your speed, location of gorilla family and nature of the habitat. Later return back to the lodge, relax for some time and after go for a community walk in the Batwa community during the evening. Enjoy dinner & overnight.
Second Gorilla Trekking Adventure and transfer to Lake BunyonyiToday we enjoy a second day of gorilla trekking in a different location, setting out once more to the briefing point after an early breakfast. Once the gorillas are located, our small group will be allowed a maximum of one hour with them. Gorilla trekking is one of the world’s truly memorable wildlife experiences – a look into one of these magnificent creature’s eyes brings home the bond that exists between them and us. The hour is often over all too quickly, and we slowly make our way back to our lodge to recount the day’s adventures. After trekking, you will drive to Lake Bunyonyi which is home to 29 islands and a great place for birds; its waters are Bilharzia free and safe for swimming. You will have your dinner this side and Overnight stay.
Transfer Back to Kigali and departureEnjoy a delicious morning breakfast, and set out for a boat ride on lake Bunyonyi where you will go around various islands with sights of terraced hills, birds, and alike. Thereafter depart the lodge and say goodbye to Uganda heading for Kigali International airport. Depending on your flight departure time, you will take some time off to visit the genocide memorial centre before you depart Rwanda. The driver will drop you off at the airport well in time for your check in.
