Day 2

Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Have an early breakfast and be at Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park Headquarters for the Mountain Gorilla Tracking (Trekking) orientation and meeting with guides and separation into groups depending on which group you will be tracking. Things needed for your Gorilla Trek where you will find a downloadable List for Trekking: Packed Lunch from the Lodge, hiking boots, light rain jacket, daypack, 2 liters of water, some like to have gardening gloves to pull themselves up on vines and branches, long-trousers such as jeans, long-sleeved shirt to protect skin from getting scratched, hat, wide-brimmed is best, sunglasses, insect repellent mostly against flies. We recommend that you hire a porter to carry your things and thereby support a family, you can also buy a walking stick. Then it is off for your own Mountain Gorillas in the Mist experience. Hiking through this mysterious and magnificent forest where there is much to see on your way to your Mountain Gorilla Group. The flora and fauna, the other primates, mammals, birds, butterflies will be most beautiful and only enhance this very special day. The tracking (trekking) can involve some rigorous climbing and hiking but then you are face to face with these powerful, yet Gentle Giants of the Forest, observing them just a few meters from you, watching the group, mothers with a baby, the gorillas doing their daily routine and you are there to see them up-close. Here is our response to those who may think that gorilla tracking may not be worth it, price, effort, time. Afterward, it is a return to headquarters depending on time and your energy level a village walk is an option (not included in price), where you will see traditional ways, from the brewing of beer to remedies made from the forest. There will be some dancing and entertainment as you see the ways of life for the surroundings. Gorilla Habituation Experience Option: Instead of spending one hour with a gorilla family – you can spend 4 hours in the Rushaga area of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest on a Gorilla Habituation Experience Trek which is all day and includes 4 hours with a gorilla group. Lodging would be different since you are in the Rushaga area of the park. Go to the lodging area page and pick a lodge in the Rushaga, Nkuringo area of the Park. Meal Plan: Breakfast – Lunch – Dinner
