1 Day Rwanda Gorilla Tour, short gorilla day trip
1 Day Rwanda Gorilla Tour is suited for those in Rwanda for business or conference, you can opt for Rwanda gorilla trekking safari on the same day before return to your country. An encounter with the Gorilla is a lifetime experience that you wouldn’t want to miss out on the moment you get an opportunity to visit Rwanda.
Our 1 Day Rwanda Gorilla tour will start early in the morning at 4:30 am and we shall drive off to the Volcanoes National park about 3 hours from Kigali, to Musanze province which is a habitat to the endangered Mountain gorillas. You can then take pictures from the different stopovers along the way and can also make a stop to have a cup of coffee.
At exactly 8.30 am, we will find us at the park’s headquarters in Kinigi Village for a briefing by the rangers about the rules and regulations governing Gorilla tracking. Expect to be divided into different groups and then sent off into the forest for your wild adventure. Gorilla trekking takes an hour to about 8 more depending on where the gorillas had been the previous day.
The hike is quite strenuous but all the more rewarding once you Encounter and set your eyes on the gentle mountain gorillas. Gorillas always move as a Family, in different numbers with the Silverback at the lead. You will watch them carry about their day to day routine like the juveniles playing, mothers feeding their young ones and the Silverbacks taking watch.
Is it possible to see Gorillas in a day?
Such a question is often asked by many wondering how this can even be possible. But the answer is yes; you can track and then after proceed to the airport for your flight. What makes it possible is the fact that Kigali International Airport is close to Volcanoes National Park and it’s a 2 hours drive on paved roads.
Gorilla tracking starts at 8.30 am and so you must assemble at the park’s headquarters in time for the briefing. Our guide may talk to the rangers and you are given a close group that takes about 45 minutes, however, the experience is awesome.
In case you are given a group that takes about 4-8 hours, for example, Susa group, you may have to push your flight to a later time to enable you to enjoy the experience without any worries. Remember a gorilla permit in Rwanda costs US$ 1500; you may look at it as too expensive but it is all the more breathtaking once you come across these great mountain gorillas. Catch a lifetime experience within a day in Rwanda.
The Virunga Mountains that straddle the borders of Rwanda, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, are home to around 480 mountain gorillas, more than half of the world’s entire population (the rest live in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda).
In Volcanoes National Park, the Rwandan part of the Virungas, ten gorilla groups are now habituated for gorilla safaris, more than anywhere else in the world.
Look into the eyes of a large silverback gorilla and he’ll look back with a thinking, intelligent gaze, mindful that you’re another individual. Any apprehensions or nerves you might have had during your trek will melt away the minute you see your gorilla family. Gorilla trekking safaris offer a magical encounter that transcends any other ‘wildlife’ experience we know.
